The Donate-a-Book campaign has raised an impressive R15,200 for mother-tongue books so far. This amounts to 190 books for under-resourced pre-schools across South Africa. Although the campaign has made an excellent start, we still have a way to go before we are able to give mother-tongue story books to the over 700 children who are set to benefit.
Iketsetseng Preschool in the Free State is now completely funded and will receive the full complement of books when the campaign ends on 31 July. But Fundani Nathi Day Care in Rustenburg North is only 1% funded and Ebenezer ECD Centre in Witbank, at only 3% funded, still needs our support.
Books costs just R80 each which includes the cost of a lockable trunk to secure the books, resource materials for teachers, transport to the ECD centre, follow-up support, project assessment and evaluation.
