In the remote, fruit farming area of Levubu in Limpopo, Mrs Naomi Ngobeni is principal of the Masungulu Educare Centre: “Limpopo Province has an extremely high level of unemployment. This is caused by a lack of skills and illiteracy. As a result the poverty rate in our community is high. We allow parents to come for suggestions and advice and the community is helping with fundraising.” But the Centre is severely under-resourced with very few books and virtually none in the mother-tongue.
